I express my sincere gratitude to Lalit Vikamshi, Director - Alag Angle Studio, Nagpur, India, Shweta Bhattad, an acclaimed artist and philanthropist, initiator of I Have A Dream Project and Gram Art Project, and last but not the least Aditi Bhattad, art educator and artist, to allow and assist me in conducting art therapy workshop with Grade 11-12 students at Government Secondary High School, Paradsinga, India.
Government Secondary High School is one of the three high schools in the village that caters to Grade 11-12 students. This was the most serious group I catered to during my stay in the village. The four-day workshop was designed, planned, and implemented to rectify the male/female discomfort. For this, the group was asked to work in a pair of a male and female, so that interaction and dialogue could be created. Activities included: drawing and puppet making, which focused on issues and solutions to drug and alcohol abuse, waterlogging, access to clean water, and creating a playground for the children to play during their spare time.
