Government Secondary High School 🕵️‍♀️

Paradsinga, India

How might we enable the power of creative learning to unlock the potential of every learner from disadvantaged backgrounds?

I express my sincere gratitude to Lalit Vikamshi, Director, Alag Angle Studio, Nagpur, India, Shweta Bhattad, an acclaimed artist and philanthropist, initiator of I Have A Dream Project and Gram Art Project, and last but not the least, Aditi Bhattad, art educator and artist, for assisting me in conducting the workshop with Grade 11-12 students at Government Secondary High School, Paradsinga, India.

Government Secondary High School is one of the three high schools in the village that caters to Grade 11-12 students. This was the most serious group I catered to during my stay in the village. The four-day workshop was designed, planned, and implemented to overcome the male/female discomfort in social gatherings. For this, the group worked in a pair of one male and one female to practice interaction and dialogue. Activities included drawing and puppet making, which focused on issues and solutions to drug and alcohol abuse, water-logging, access to clean water, and creating a playground for the children to play during their spare time.
